Apple Pencil Not Connecting

I got both my ipad (9th gen) and my apple pencil (1st gen) for Christmas. I havent had any issues with connection until yesterday, where my pencil does not charge / disconnects when I unplug it from the lightning port. I havent left it uncharged for more than a few hours at a time, never for longer than a day. Why is this?

If your Pencil disconnects from your iPad when unplugged, this would suggest that the Pencil's battery has failed.

If the Pencil Battery has failed, the only remedy is to replace the Pencil. If the battery has failed and your pencil is within its one-year warranty, you should look to having it replaced by your retailer or at an Apple Store.
