I've had this iMac since 2016. For the past 2 months, every time I turn on my computer, this Microsoft #%*! icon turns on, and the pop-up is at the middle of my screen. I don't have any Microsoft app that needs any update! This is not even one of the apps that I've marked "launch at login." So where did this come from? I have to quit it every time after I turn on my Mac. Any advice will be much appreciated.

From having installed any number of Microsoft products. It is not a login item. To uninstall it, you will need to consult Microsoft's uninstallation instructions.

It worked! I followed the instructions in the link you sent. Then I restarted my Mac-- the MS AutoUpdate is gone forever. I take my hat off to you, 6x6. You made my day. Thank you very much.
