I am feeling I know the answer already, but wanted to try. I found an apple watch in a hotel room. It wasn't claimed so I got to keep it. I of course couldn't unlock it as I did with one I found before to find contact for the owner to return it. I am curious if there is some way I can give apple the serial number off the watch. If their system can contact the account linked to the watch and let them know it was found and see if they would like to unlink it and let me keep it or if perhaps I could mail it to apple and they would send it back to the owner?

I feel I know the answer to this, but again wanted to go for it to see if I could try to reunite the watch with its owner.

Apple does not provide information about the owner. That would be subject to abuse.

The owner has the option to display info on a lost device, if they want.

Activation Lock is a theft deterrent, and intentionally not easy to bypass.

Unlock requires the assistance of the person holding the Apple ID, or proof of ownership sufficient to convince Apple such as the original purchase receipt.

Turn the watch into lost and found where it was located, or police if that’s an option for you, or recycle it.
