traveling in Portugal with 12 pro and suddenly i cant make or receive calls

My daughter is currently traveling in Portugal- 12 pro (Verizon) worked great first 2 days- all of the sudden she cannot make or receive calls. Data and messages are fine. She did update to the newest IOS last night but no change.

Can she reset her carrier settings while traveling internationally? We are just scared of her loosing data and messaging too.

Some times after phone restart or turning airplane mode on/off it gets normal, but once I try to call someone or someone tries to call me the call fails and bars turn grey again. Also I’ve received a message in the first day from carrier that someone was trying to call me 5 times but none of those calls came through and no sms since then either. I tried to pinpoint the problem to whether it is carrier or phone related and looks like the phone is the main culprit: Tried 2 other working SIM cards from different carriers - no luck. Rebooted my phone cleared carrier settings, reinstalled SIM card - no luck Inserted my SIM card into my wife’s iPhone(15 Pro) - all works fine, bars are normal color, can make/receive calls. BTW she is also in roaming with the same carrier and has no issues. Turned on my eSIM and that’s where things got interesting. It all works fine for the eSIM i.e. normal bars, calls, sms, but physical SIM card still doesn’t work for calls and sms. Any help will be very appreciated. [Re-Titled by Moderator]

Setup: iPhone Pro Max 15 with two eSims from two EU countries. When in country 1, I can use eSim 1 without restrictions. I can also use Data and Texts with eSim 2 (which is roaming). I cannot make or receive voicecalls with eSim2. When in country 2, I can use eSim 2 without restrictions. I can also use Data and Texts with eSim 1 (which is roaming). I cannot make or receive voicecalls with eSim1. The Network operators from both countries say all is well in their system and that I should not have any roaming restrictions. They also say that when there are restrictions, they apply to Voice and Data, never just to Voice. Both eSims work correctly in another phone, even in Roaming, so the Network operators seem to be right. I wiped my phone and brought it to an Apple Repair shop. After a week they gave it back saying that they had changed the IMEI. Well, that didn't help. I tried once more to contact Apple support. They want me to once more wipe my phone to see if the issue maintains. No use in explaining that I did that already. Anyone else had such an issue?

For changes to carrier settings, it's best to contact Verizon directly. In most cases, these settings can only be updated when your device is connected to their local network.
