I bought an iPhone 7 Plus in 2020. Among the pre-installed apps, only Garage Band was not installed. It stuck in my mind. Is there a reason or is it normal?

Apple hasn’t indicated. I’d expect it’s because Apple long had iLife as a separate paid package (on Mac) (before it went free), and as GarageBand on iOS and iPadOS is Not Small and some iPhone configurations are quite small.

With a small number of people who use GarageBand, I would suspect most would find that the storage space it takes up would be an unreasonable addition on their device. So it is there for a free download for anyone who would like to use it.
Is there a reason GarageBand is not a pre-installed iPhone app?
