Apple Watch SE limits charging to 80% until a certain time

I have the Apple Watch SE 2020 and have had the Optimize Battery Charging option turned off since day 1 as I’ve noticed it doesn’t seem to work the way described. Although I’ve got the option turned off, my watch still chooses to limit charging to 80% until far bast the time i usually go to sleep. I then have to wake the watch up and select “Charge to full now”, if i even remember.

Full version: Thanks to a recent Watch upgrade, I now find it is perfectly adequate to charge my Watch for 20 minutes or so twice a day. In the two weeks after I bought the new model, the Optimized Charge Limit feature helpfully (usually) capped the charge at 85%, accurately calculating that such a charge level would easily get me to my next charging interval. I realize this Optimized Limit is designed to be a set-and-forget feature—turn it on then don't worry—but I would still like to benefit from the marginally slower battery wear if I can figure out what I am doing that is preventing the "optimization" from activating. How to stop charging Apple Watch ultra at 80% witch Optimized charging on I want to save battery life and to program Apple Watch Ultra to stop charging at 80%. Optimized charging is on, but I always get full charge. I have never seen the open circle. I always exceed the 80% charge when I try to stop charging myself because it’s difficult for me to constantly keep an eye on the charging process. How can I make sure that my watch stops charging ar 80%? What do I do wrong. This gives me stress.
