MacBook 13-inch, Late 2009 black screen

Hi, I am dealing with a MacBook from late 2009 that isn't booting up. The owner brought it after removing the HDD with a Windows OS and without the battery, which had died, and he used it daily before. I replaced HDD with a 320 GB 5400 RPM. When I connect the power adapter, it lights up green, but unfortunately, pressing the power button only causes the fan to spin, and the screen remains black. Ive tried booting from an external HDD, inserting an installation disk, using an installation USB, connecting it to an external monitor, and even replacing the RAM, everything without success. The fan spins, but that's all. Could this be caused by the MacBook lacking a battery or something else? Thank you. Sorry for my bad English.

Thank you for your answer. I checked the cable to the display, and it's correctly connected. As I mentioned before, I also tried an external monitor. Yes, I realize that the laptop is at the end of its lifespan, but I'm somewhat of an enthusiast, so I'd like to save it because visually, it's in great condition. However, I'm running out of ideas on what else could be causing this issue.
