iPad 6 started to work slow

Hello, I bought my iPad back in 2018 (6th generation) and since then it started to work really slow. I used it rare, because I had school and stuff. So for 3 years I just used it sometimes to watch YouTube, play games or draw. Approximately 6 months ago, I started to use it as a study tool, and I noticed that its performance decreased significantly. It started to lag, turn off by itself and RAM storage is not enough for completing simple tasks. So, my question is : Should I update it? Maybe I am doing something wrong? I searched my problem on Google, watched many YouTube videos about slow performance, but everyone keep saying that their iPad works completely fine.
