Command+Tab Question

Hey there!

I am new to using a MAC and I am having to use one for work.

I have to rename hundreds of PDF files a day by opening the document, review it and rename it appropriately.

On a PC I open the file then hit alt+tab to go back to the original file, hit F2 to rename, rinse and repeat.

When I do this on my MAC (command+tab) it doesn't put me back onto the file I was on previously, it only brings me to the "finder" but doesn't select the file I was on, so I have to mouse over the file again.

I prefer not to use my mouse when doing this as it saves a lot of time not having to take my hands off the keyboard.

Is there a different key stroke or setting I can change where Command+Tab puts me back onto the file I had selected and not just the finder window, or is this not possible?

Thank you!

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 13.6

How are you renaming the files? If it's a same name with a sequential number tacked on give Name Mangler a try. It also will add a prefix or suffix to multiple files.

You don't have to open the file to review it. Just select it and press the Space bar. Also if the files are in an album you can move up and down the list with the up and down arrow keys.

You can do the following all from the keyboard:

1 - Down arrow to the next file

2 - hit the space bar to review

3 - hit the Space bar again to end the review

4 - hit the Enter key to rename the file.

Note: if the rename changes it place in the list you may have to use the arrow keys to get to the the next file for renaming.
