FCPX clips turn red after switching between different programs

Ive used FCPX for 10 years but recently (last 3 months) when I am switching between FCPX and other apps like safari or mail etc and then come back to FCPX a bunch of my clips turn red (indicating missing clips however they all still play back within FCPX). I use the audio waveform to edit so it's frustrating that this disappears. The fix so far has been to tab back into a finder window and then back to FCPX for them to reappear but thats obviously annoying. Wondering if anyone has a fix or has experienced this problem too?

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 14.4

As always, when the application is not behaving as expected, deleting preferences is probably the first thing to try.

To delete preferences, hold down command and option while starting the application and click Delete Preferences. The application will start in a default state, and open an "Untitled" library. Reopen the library you were working on, set the preferences the way you like them, and try again.

If the problem persists: Please run Etrecheck and post its full report here. Use the "additional text" button and paste the report into the text box.
