Setting up a Apple TV with a Hotspot

Hello everyone,

Recently, our school received new Apple TVs (4K 3rd gen, 64GB Wifi). When we tried to set them up, our only option was to connect them to the internet via a hotspot (we can't use the school's WLAN). However, when we enter the hotspot password, the TV briefly loads and then gives an error stating that the hotspot is not connected to the internet. We've tried using two different hotspots: one via iPhone & mobile data and another via a Windows laptop on the WLAN network. Has anyone here experienced similar issues or heard of such a problem? Thank you in advance.

A WiFi hotspot shouldn't be a problem apart from any issues with whatever 'hotspot' you're trying to use. Pretty sure that's where your problem is.

Just now, out of curiosity, I connected my [1st gen; current software] ATV4K to the Internet via my old iPhone XS's Personal Hotspot. Works great via a 4G Verizon connection - an ATV4K speed test app measures at ~45Mbps "download".
