Why isn’t apple accepting my cash app anymore?

payment method all of a sudden not working it has money in the account I don’t understand. It is a cash app, but it’s never been a problem before and do I have to have a credit card to download free apps ? I don’t really get this. I remember before there was a spot that said none and now I can’t find it as for payment method options anyway.. this is an iPhone 15 Pro Max and it is updated to the latest

Apple can require a valid payment method (which cannot be a gift card) for verification purposes. It may be charged a small amount to verify it but this will be automatically refunded.
