I have been adding rows incorrectly to the Personal Budget template. I now understand I use enter to add rows. How do I get the formula into the cells that I added incorrectly without adding the data again?

OK. I think I see what you want to do.
To fill the formula down, select Cell C2 and hover the cursor over the lower border of C2 to see the yellow dot (the Fill Handle).
Drag the yellow dot down the column.
Make sure that Column A is exactly the same spelling as the pop-Up Menus (no extra spaces).

The formulas in the Summary by Category table use "entire column" references such as Transactions::C instead of specific ranges like Transactions::C2:C27. They refer to the entire column except for header and footer rows. All rows you add to the Transactions table will be included automatically. If something is not adding up in the Summary by Category table, it may be the text in column A does not quite match the popup in column C of the Transactions table (as Ian mentioned).

Thanks SG. I looked at the Autofill cells link. it does not describe how to shift the formula to cells if the cells already have data.
In answer to your question - The rows in the Numbers template 'Personal Budget'. If you take a look at the template, I entered data in the Transactions table, and it is not being calculated in the Budget 'Summary by Category'. I know my error was adding rows without using enter therefore the formula isn't in the additional rows. How to get the formula into those cells without losing the data already there?

There are no formulas in the Transactions Table. Formats are Text, Actual or Pop-Up Menu.
Perhaps you are trying this:
I added a Menu Item in Row 12 (Something Else)
To add that item to every Pop-Up Menu in Column C, double click on the Column Label C to select all Body Cells in that column.
Merge Menu Items.

Thanks Yellowbox. I see what you mean. My question then should be, how do I make sure the formula in the Budget 'Summary by Category' captures all the rows I add in 'Transactions'. I think because I didn't hit enter to create a new row, the formula doesn't capture the rows anymore. I want to avoid adding the data again.

Thanks Badunit. The spelling is the same, although I seem to have lost the dropdown in column C 'category' in some of the cells. Could this be the issue and why not all the data in 'category' of transactions are calculated in the Budget?
Thanks Yellowbox. The formula is missing in the cells of column C 'Category' of Transactions not budget. If I drag the yellow dot down in Budget, it doesn't impact 'difference' in Budget. The tip about spelling is a good one as I found that the dropdowns are lost in some of column C in Transactions. Could this be the issue?
It doesn't matter if it is a popup or just text in a cell. The only thing that matters is the spelling be the same, including non-visible characters such as spaces.
If there is a category or row in particular that is not working, copy/paste the popup/text from that row of Transactions into the Summary table and see if that fixes it. You can then format it as text to get rid of the popup.
If some transaction rows for a category are getting summed but others are not, try copy/pasting the popup from a working row to the non-working rows.
If neither of these things make a difference, maybe somehow the "numbers" in column D of those rows of the transactions table are actually text. Select one of those cells that is not getting summed. Look at the bottom of the Numbers window. It should say "actual" and have the number. If it says "text", the numeric functions (SUMIF being one of them) will ignore it. Select the entire column (other than the header) and format it as currency. Hopefully that is all it will take to fix it but it may not. One indication of number vs text is that numbers align by default to the right side of the cell while text aligns to the left. If you haven't manually set the text justification, it will do that.
To get a popup back into a cell, copy/paste it from another cell.

That worked. I copied and pasted the category and it did the trick.
One of the category names doesn't appear in the dropdown list in the transaction page, but appears in the budget page. Is there a way to fix this?
