AppleTV wreaking havoc with my Sony Bravia

A week ago Saturday, all of a sudden, my LR TV, a Sony Bravia began shutting off, turning on, scrolling through inputs, running the volume up and down -- generally going nuts. I turned it off and went downstairs to the basement TV. Same thing. Our bedroom TV also had a touch of this. All have AppleTV plugged into them.

The next afternoon, nothing had magically resolved, so on Monday my wife had a TV repairman come out. There was nothing he could do, because before you can complete any activity in Settings or Update, the TV shuts off, or starts scrolling through inputs. He determined that the control boards were fried or at least compromised in some way.

Later that afternoon, my wife called Best Buy and they suggested calling Sony. The Sony tech had her do a reset on the AppleTV by pressing the Volume and Menu buttons simultaneously to turn it on. That seemed to fix the basement TV, and it has improved the situation in the LR.

Was there some software "upgrade" on April 5/6 that would cause the components/remotes to send out extraneous signals to a TV?

Hard to say what triggers it, but very occasionally the ATV4K's Siri Remotes are known to just go flakey, like the remote emits a random command to some component repeatedly, and they need to be rebooted or reset. I say to jump straight to the last procedure in this Apple support doc: If your Siri Remote or Apple TV Remote isn't working - Apple Support - basically a full factory reset and a fresh pairing with your ATV4K device.
