Markup always on whenever I take a screenshot - new issue

It used to be that screenshots came up without markup chosen, but lately it’s always on in the edit screen, taking up space on my ipad screen and requiring me to turn it off, and it still appears the next time I’m working in the edit screen. What changed? Can I turn if off so it doesn’t show up on my next screenshot?
