Apple Mail (Pop - IMap )question

I notice after a migration that I have two of the same email address in my mail accounts. One is POP and the other is IMAP,.


Why do I have two?


Can I delete one?


which one?

Delete the POP. That is an older email protocol. One big disadvantage is that it doesn't sync when you read email on one device and then look on another. In other words, if you open an email on your phone it will then be removed from the unread folder and the blue dot goes away. Then if you open your email on an iPad. it will still be unread, and you'll have to open to again. I think Yahoo mail uses this type


IMAP will keep everything perfectly synced. All devices will know when you open or send an email. Delete an email on one and it'll happen on all. Note, sometimes it'll take a moment for the messages to sync depending on how fast your internet speed is.
