Cannot edit contacts in contact widget

in the 4 person contact widget, when I click a contact, it won’t open the contacts app to choose a different one.

If I choose the one contact widget and try to change I get the errors:

1) couldn’t communicate with the helper application

or 2) the action”select person” could not run because the contacts app quit unexpectedly.

i have removed the widget and rebooted. Still doesn’t work. On the latest version but this has been a problem for a while.
