What is the Battery Condition? If it says "Service Battery" or "Service Recommended", then the battery needs to be replaced....assuming you are using an Apple OEM Battery (I don't know how third party batteries would register).
You can try running the Apple Diagnostics to see if any hardware issues are detected (some third party batteries may not be compatible with the diagnostics).
If you are using a third party battery, then it may be bad.
All things being equal, the battery is usually the weakest link as long as there has not been any accidental liquid damage or any significant impacts that could have partially dislodged the I/O Cable.
Unfortunately Apple no longer supports battery replacement on the 2012 model, so your only option would be to get a third party battery from OWC or iFixIt. These are the only two vendors I would trust since the quality of third party Lithium batteries is extremely poor. OWC does have authorized resellers for some items in other regions...I'm not sure about iFixIt.
