Cannot detect HP 6200C scanner

HP ScanJet 6200C scanner, SCSI-2 & USB, works fine SCSI-2 on Linux, USB on Windows, is not detected at all on my new iMac. I see there are driver issues for other scanners. I have a licensed VueScan, who notes that a driver is not needed for this scanner on a Mac; but VueScan does not see the scanner.

I've finally switched to Mac, via a long road from DOS, Windows (gave up a very long time ago), OS/2 and Linux.... Great to be with Apple, but it sure would be good to get my scanner going.

Thanks! - Andy

Found the problem. This particular scanner has a firmware fault. The HP patch works only on Windows XP or less. That meant finding a Windows machine that I could mess with and bring to my scanner, install the drivers, run the patch, etc. A pain in the rear end, but I got it to work, and now my iMac sees it fine.
