Contacts not syncing between Macbook Air and iPhone

My Contacts are not syncing between my MacBook Air and my iPhone. How do I fix this?

Contacts do not sync between devices, they sync to servers, either iCloud for the default or some other email server. So your MBA and your iPhone need to be logged in to the same email account or accounts that have Contacts turned on in Settings/Mail/Accounts when tapping on each account. Turn on the Contacts switch.
