Reset an AirTag that won’t reset

I am trying to reset an AirTag that has been deregistered from another account and did the remove battery til the fifth time makes a different sound but it never make a different sound. I have tried many times and even take the battery out and replaced it more the 20 times trying to get it to reset. What do I do now?

iPhone 14, iOS 17

Was this your AirTag originally or did you get it used from some other source? If the latter, it appears that it was not successfully removed from being associated with their Apple ID.
