I have been trying to delete my apple account for the past hour. It has been a fruitless endeavor that just leads to more and more dead ends. Finding a way to even contact support about this has been a nightmare. I have no clue what my further option forward is.

simply follow the link at privacy.apple.com. You’ll be directed to a second page with all the results of deleting your account as it is an extreme measure. Submit the reason and continue.

NOPE! There are no support pages for this! There's no way to continue. These are the dead ends I listed.
I want my account gone, I want my data removed from their records, I've had much fewer issues with any other online service and this simply speaks volumes to apples ability to continue to give the customer trouble even after they have attempted to stop using their products or services. I shouldn't need a reason to want my data removed, if you truly want one I don't trust apple, and I don't feel the need to expound on that further.

That's iTunes Connect. Based on the message you received, you have published content. You'll probably need to remove the content first. Select the option for the content that you've provided.
As an alternative, just turn off iCloud features that you use on device and then erase the data at iCloud.com. And, stop using the account.

Simply stated, you cannot delete your Apple ID account. You simply stop using it.
Perhaps if you tell us why you want to delete your Apple ID account there may be other answers available.
