Applications suddenly jumps from 25gb to 212gb storage

I use a MacBook Pro with 250gb storage. It says the disk is full (I can’t even add a booking in my calendar). Applications are taking up 212gb yet when you look at detail it adds up to less than 30gb. How do I analyse and delete what is clogging up

Applications taking up much more storage than they should be For reference, I have a 2020 13-inch MacBook Pro running version 12.5.1 of Monterey with 250 GB of storage. My computer seems to be overestimating how much storage my apps are using by a long shot. My largest app is 4.2 GB (Photoshop) and everything else is under 2 GB, equalling just under 17 GB. Finder recognizes my applications folder as taking up this amount. However, in System Information, it says that my apps are taking up nearly 114 GB of storage. This is not the only group of files that seem to be having this issue, but my apps are the worst. I've attached pictures for reference. I've tried deleting apps and files within the apps, as well as resetting the Spotlight for my applications folder, but nothing seems to work. How can I reduce the number of GB that my apps are taking up? I have not been able to update my computer because of this issue and I've tried just about everything I could find. Application storage is way larger than calculated size My Mac mini is a 2025 512gb version and it's consistently getting 'full' despite me working to keep it as lean as possible. In the storage calculation and in disk utility it says that 'apps' are taking up nearly 300gb of space yet when I click to open the apps folder they totally nowhere near that, more like 25gb max. I've used a third party cache clearer and manually removed the cash files. System date is only 25gb roughly so where the hell is the extra 200 odd gb being stored. Can someone please help out - please don't suggest doing what I've already done before - this 200gb must be somewhere! Appreciate you!

MacBook Pro over-reporting storage used by Applications I'm using a MacBook Pro M1 2020 8GB storage. I'm trying to free up storage space and could use advice on how to best do that. When I go to Storage Settings it says I have 243 GB out of 245.11 GB storage used. The top storage user is said to be Applications at 96 GB. However, when I click on info there is only about 15 GB represented. Why is this?

Application data might be eating up most of the 212GB you are seeing. There are data, such as, mail attachments, that eat up storage. Similarly, if you have projects (iMove, GarageBand, etc.), there are application data files that add to that, too.
