I have an HP Monitor connected to my MacBook and I’ve attempted to change the wallpapers on both screens.
On choosing the Wallpaper item in system settings and identifying the two screens to edit, I am unable to choose either screen to edit. Nominating either screen to not “select” that screen.
MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 13.6
In System Settings->Wallpaper, you can choose to affect both screens at once, or select for a specific one.
If you activate "Show in all Spaces", your choice will apply to all displays.
If you don't, there is a popup where you can choose the display you want, and so pick a different wallpaper
for each.

Does the same problem happen in a new user account?
Does it happen in your regular user account if you start in Safe Mode?
Thank you for that response however my issues is not that allocation to a wallpaper to either screen. Its that if I change the wallpaper to a new design, it reverts back to the previous design. That is to say it doesn't remain the new preferred screen - you could say that it doesnt't "save."
