How to set up laptop so that an existing Apple ID can synchronise with iCloud

I don’t want to have the thousands of pictures and videos and garbage on my new computer. I want fresh start. My question is if I use my Apple ID or iCloud is that going to still put all them on my new computer without doing the migration? No laughing lol

If you set up your new computer to synchronize to iCloud for an existing Apple ID account, then the new computer will try to pull in whatever is in iCloud under that Apple ID.

For instance, if you had a thousand photos in iCloud Photos, and you turned on iCloud Photos on the new Mac, it would try to synchronize with iCloud. Depending on your settings and how much free space you had, it might download full-size copies of all of your photos; or full-size copies of some and "space-saving" copies of others.
