Why does my iPhone still make sound when it played a video when it’s supposed to be muted, but I still hear something on YouTube and other apps? And other third-part?

If you’re referring to the switch on the side of the phone, that is meant to silence notifications and the phone ringing. It is not a universal mute switch.
