Broken MacBook Air bezel affects screen

My MacBook Air bezel broke after closing it without noticing an aux cable which broke a part

thus caused the right part of the screen to turn black and the rest unaffected

is it fixable and worth fixing?

Hello. Thank you for reaching out help in Apple Community.

For short, yes, it is fixable, and it will be worth fixing according to your situation.

It seems like your MacBook's screen is damaged, and does not show a part of the screen. Here are some solutions:

First of all, is to go to Apple Support for fixing the screen. Apple will fix the screen for you, but may cost a lot, and it depends on the situation. However, if you bought your Mac in 1 year, Apple supports free coverage. You could check out your Mac's coverage by going to System Settings, "General", and "AppleCare and Warranty".

Second of all, is to use the "Self-Repair" kit released by Apple. It is way more cheaper and convenient than the first method. But if you have zero knowledge to technology, it is not recommended for you.

Lastly, is to use third party repair kits. They are way more cheaper than any of the options above. But as it was mentioned, if you have zero knowledge, don't try. And if you are aware of afraid with screen's resolution, or "Unauthorized display" (keeps showing in System Settings) this is not that recommended (since this is not authorized by apple).

For more information about Apple Coverage, check out the link below:

  1. AppleCare Products - Apple
  2. Check Your Service and Support Coverage - Apple Support

To learn more about "Self_Repair" Kit, visit the following website:

Thanks.

Hi.

If the bezel is broken, there is a very high possibility that the screen will be broken too, since those two are connected. The LCD Screens are way more sensitive, which mean even though you had broke the bezel, it is a part of the screen, and is connected. Just understand as that the bezel and the screen has some complicated relationship, and any part of the screen is considered as a screen. So it is very recommended to change your display.

Thanks

But if it was damage to the screen itself wouldn't all of it not work and not only a specific side? also as you can see damage is only caused to the bezel not the display itself.

No, there are multiple thin & fragile plastic flex cables hidden all along beneath the whole length of the Bezel. When the Bezel was punctured, that also punctured the cable beneath it.
