It’s your location. Many financial institutions, in their attempts to reduce fraud, do not permit cards to be verified when they are not in their issuing region or country. Apple doesn’t verify cards and cannot alter the requirements of Capital One.

If you’re going to be overseas for awhile, I suggest opening an account in the country your residing in and adding that to the Apple Wallet. You can then do overseas wire transfer to move funds from your Capital One account and local (foreign) bank account.

If jlo48 is having the same problem that I am, it is verifying the Capital One debit card for use in Apple Pay. I can add it to my Wallet but cannot complete the verification. If I call the phone number provided, it simply refers me to the Capital One app instead. When I select the app, it asks for the expiration date on my card. Once I enter that, I get the response, "We cannot activate your card at this time." This has unfortunately been the response after multiple attempts for over a month.

In my scenario, I am located outside the US. I have tried over Wi-Fi and cellular as well as with and without a VPN server located in the US. Any assistance is appreciated!

Sorry, I’m not understanding what you want to do.

Which account is your Apple account?

What account has your Capital One credit card and checking account? Do you mean debit card rather than checking account? I know they’re similar, but you’re there are multiple choices here and I want to be clear before I provide a solution. 😀

What is your ultimate goal, linking accounts for future transactions or what exactly? I want to be able to provide the proper support articles etc.

Yes, I’m having the exact same issue as you just chimed in on. I appreciate that, it helps. Apple know that they still have a lot of glitches that need to be addressed. With that being said, I don’t understand why you don’t know what I mean or what I’m asking. I was very direct and use simple questions as well as providing simple answers as to what I have an issue with and that is attaching my Capital One debit card to my Apple wallet. I don’t know how else to ask you in a different way so that you’ll understand what I’m asking. Times are not like they used to be where they actually train their customer service representatives or the work ethics nowadays for employees are 200% below average.

This is a user-to-user forum. No one here is an Apple employee. If one of your fellow users asks clarifying questions, it's because they are taking time out of their day to volunteer to help you and need more information to do so. If you want help, it makes sense to answer the questions. Jeff Donald probably knows more about Apple Pay, Wallet, and Apple Cards than most people who work for Apple.

For the purposes of this discussion, there is a difference between "checking account" and "debit card." I would have asked the same questions. I would also not continue to help anyone who didn't answer the questions (and who complained about my "work ethic").

Hi jlo48, Apple Support Community is a public discussion forum that connects fellow Apple users so that they can assist each other. I’m a fellow Apple user, not a customer service representative.

In regard to my training I was licensed Series 6, Series 7, Series 63, and a CLU and a CFP. I am also a former Apple Retail Store manager. I’m pretty sure I’ve the training needed to answer your questions regarding financial concerns and needs.

Your statements were vague and lacked critical information. The lack of clarity meant I asked several questions that would help me identify your critical needs and concerns and provide the best possible response. However, instead of answering my questions, you chose to attack a fellow community member who volunteers his expertise and experience to help fellow community members.

Since your issue is >the exact same issue< as leifliege. Your answer is contained in my reply to him and I’ll consider your issue resolved.
