iTunes from Microsoft Store v12.13.1.3 running on a Win 11 Pro 23h2 with a USB attached iPhone 14 Pro Max running IOS 17.4.1 no longer allows iPhone backups.
iTunes no has 2 main options play, Podcasts or Audio Books. To play music from your the iPhone a new app is required from the Microsoft Store, Apple Music (must have missed the memo). QUESTION is HOW DO I BACKUP MY IPHONE to my PC? Web searches has yielded nothing.

You have to uninstall Apple Devices, then restart and iTunes should work as it did before. If you any of Apple Music, Apple TV, or Apple Devices installed, iTunes will only work with Audio Books and Podcasts.

Do appreciate your response but most likely I was not clear. For oh so many years it did work that way. Now there is no options for the Device, Music ... only Audio Books and Podcasts. Connecting the iPhone to a USB does not provide access to the phone's pictures, nothing in explorer, no USB connected device. You can not play music from your iPhone through iTunes. You require a Microsoft Store app Apple Music. It appears iTunes is being broken into pieces with some missing, backup up phone, music, etc.

Never opted into Apple Preview but went to Apple for Apple Device app which sent me to MS. Installed it. Application opens but does not see the iPhone. The only options in setup "check .. update" and "Send usage to Apple".

I started with a vanilla iTunes setup, only 2 choices, Audio Books/Podcasts. I read the links posted by muguy followed the processes, that is when i was introduced to Apple Devices, Downloaded Apple Music's preview on PC, n… - Apple Community. Since option 2 was a wash I tried the above link, am still unsuccessful in connecting.
