xprotect service

The best reply on this issue about xprotect service says that it's a third party service. This is incorrect, and Apple should remove the reply. Xprotect is an Apple Service.

I am having trouble with it consuming high CPU resources on my 2.4 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9 running Version 14.2.1 (23C71) (Sonoma) and finding such incorrect responses on the Apple Forums is not helpful at all.

I did flag that post for review. Although there is a third party application called XProtect, it is clearly not the issue you are encountering, as well as that of the other user.

For you, I suggest updating to Mac OS 14.4.1. There have been improvements on how XProtect works and one of the problems was that it was causing high CPU usage.
