Apple Pay doesn’t work with App Store

My Apple Pay works EXCEPT for when I try to use it in the official Apple Store app or in games etc.. I'm talking about the one where you purchase physical Apple products, not the App Store.

When I check out using Apple Pay, double tap to pay, it processes my face, says "done" with a nice check mark... and then it just returns me to my card without having purchased anything. This has been going on for over a few weeks now and I can’t update subscriptions or anything
