Apple Watch Connection Problem

Hello,

I have an apple watch series 3 that I have not used in about 4 years. I also have an iphone 14. I am trying to connect it and it works fine then says it needs an update. I click to update and says it is unable to check for an update because I am not connected to the internet, even though I am. I have reset the watch and my phone multiple times, and deleted/redownloaded the app. Nothing has helped so far.
