Apple Music app stops playing some songs too early

OSX 14.4.1 (23E224), although this problem started with Catalina.

The short version of the problem is: Some tracks stop playing a few seconds (generally 5-10) before the actual end, and skip on to the next track.

Details:

• This seems to happen exclusively with non-iTunes-purchased files.

• Sometimes, deleting and re-adding the track will help. Sometimes, not.

• It started happening suddenly a year or so ago, although I don't believe there were any system changes at that time. All music from before a certain time is fine.

I realize that this problem has been around a long time (I've seen reports over 10 years old), but I'm curious if anyone has found a solution that is not just "rebuild your entire music library" (I have roughly 38,000 tracks in mine).

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 14.4
