Format of the drive is something like APFS, HFS Extended, ExFat... which one is yours?
To use with FCP, drive should be APFS or HFS Extended.
Select the drive in Finder, and press Command-I to open the Info window.
Is the drive formatted HFS+? It should be of its a spinning HD, APFS if it’s an SSD.
Being formatted as ExFAT is the problem. You can put your libraries on internal or external drives, but they must be using the proper format, as Tom said.
Need complete information about the system and what you're doing. What's the computer? What's the FCP version? What's the OS? What size is the system drive? How much free space? Where are you importing to, to the library or somewhere else? Where is the library stored? If the media is external, where is it stored? What's the drive? How is it connected and formatted? How large and how much free space?
What's the computer? Mac Studio M2 Ultra
What's the FCP version? 10.7.1
What's the OS? Sonoma 14.4.1
What size is the system drive? 2TB
How much free space? 1.8TB Available
Where are you importing to, to the library or somewhere else? To the Library on a separate Lacie HD Thunderbolt 4
Where is the library stored? Library on a separate Lacie HD Thunderbolt 4
If the media is external, where is it stored? Library on a separate Lacie HD Thunderbolt 4
What's the drive? Lacie HD
How is it connected and formatted? Thunderbolt 4
How large and how much free space? 6TB HD with 2.2TB Free
Hi Luis and Tom,
I FIXED THE PROBLEM.
I had purchased a new computer and I was using the 'migrated' version of FCPX. I deleted, then reinstalled FCPX from the App Store and it now works perfectly.
Thanks again for your help,
Geoff

Mine is ExFat
No, it's not an SSD. Might it help if I moved the Library to an external SSD?
Can I simply move the FCPX Library to my Internal Drive? Would that solve the problem?
Thanks in advance
It should work.
Thanks for your help Tom
