It looks like your MacBook is experiencing performance issues, and the EtreCheck report provides some insights into potential causes. The report highlights major issues such as an outdated Time Machine backup and critically low disk space, both of which can impact system performance.

To address the low disk space issue, you should consider freeing up space on your hard drive by removing unnecessary files or transferring them to an external storage device. Deleting temporary files, old downloads, or large unused applications can help reclaim valuable disk space and improve system performance.

Additionally, you may want to address the heavy CPU usage by certain applications mentioned in the report. Identify which apps are consuming the most CPU resources and consider closing or uninstalling them if they are not essential for your workflow. You can use Activity Monitor to monitor CPU usage and identify resource-intensive processes.

It's also worth noting the presence of unsigned files and kernel extensions, which may pose compatibility issues or security risks. You can review the unsigned files and kernel extensions listed in the report and determine if they are necessary for your system. Removing unnecessary or outdated extensions can help streamline system performance and improve stability.

Lastly, considering the number of system modifications and software installations mentioned in the report, it's possible that conflicting software or outdated drivers could be contributing to the performance issues. Ensure that all your software and drivers are up to date, and consider uninstalling any unused or incompatible applications.

If you're unsure how to proceed or need further assistance, reaching out to Official Apple Support or visiting an Apple Store Genius Bar can provide personalized guidance and support to address the specific issues affecting your MacBook's performance. They can offer tailored solutions based on your system configuration and usage patterns.

I'm afraid you may have a bad Logic Board since you have over 600 "ProxiedDevice-Bridge" panic logs. This indicates a problem with the T2 security chip. You can try to perform a DFU firmware Revive which resets the T2 security chip & system firmware.

Make sure to have a good backup first since you could permanently lose access to your data if the process does not complete due to a hardware issue. It seems your last backup was several weeks ago. You want to have much more frequent backups since there are a lot more new ways to permanently lose access to the data stored on the internal SSD due to all the new hardware, software, and security changes. It is nearly impossible to recover data from any of the 2018+ Macs, so your backups are usually your only option to access your data when something goes wrong.

FYI, I have found the Logic Boards on these 2018-2020 T2 Macs tend to have a higher rate of failure than any other previous models. The 2019 models seem to be particular bad. Personally I would not put any money into repairs since a repair is very expensive....much better to put the repair money towards a new laptop. Plus Apple may have a hard time realizing you have a hardware issue with the Logic Board unless one of their service diagnostics fails since Apple techs are not trained to look at Kernel Panic logs. You can try running the consumer level Apple Diagnostics to see if any hardware issues are detected. Unfortunately diagnostics rarely detect hardware issues, but it never hurts to try. Even the Apple service diagnostics rarely detect issues, but they do a slightly better job than the consumer diagnostic.

You are going to want to look more closely at the information provided by HWTech. The information provided there is much more relevant than any response provided by an AI Chatbot.

To expand on the info provided by HWTech and the EtreCheck report provided, the drive performance is very poor. This could be related to the Logic Board issue described by HWTech and agree with him that putting money into a hardware repair on this computer is not the best choice economically.

To determine if it is a Hardware issue for sure, all you can do is eliminate the possibility of a software conflict. This can be done by doing a clean install to determine if the issue persists or remove apps that are running on startup gradually to see if the issue goes away. Of course you will want to make sure that your data is backed up in either case.

If you do want to try the gradual approach of removing files, then look here:

  • If you no longer are using Virtual Box, use any provided uninstaller to remove it.
  • Team Viewer has many files that no longer link to the correct executable. May not be used anymore or no longer being updated, but if unused remove with uninstaller.
  • I would remove AdBlock if you specifically see slowness when web browsing. Nothing against AdBlock, just a standard troubleshooting step.
  • Definitely remove apps provided by Clever Files (such as Disk Drill) since you are experiencing slowness on HD.

If you have used the uninstaller and have removed these apps, then verify in these 3 locations that there are not any left over files. You can navigate there by going to Finder > Go > Go to Folder and paste each location there:

/Library/LaunchAgents

  • com.teamviewer.teamviewer.plist
  • com.teamviewer.teamviewer_desktop.plist

/Library/LaunchDaemons

  • com.cleverfiles.cfbackd.plist
  • com.microsoft.teams.TeamsUpdaterDaemon.plist
  • com.teamviewer.Helper.plist
  • com.teamviewer.teamviewer_service.plist
  • org.virtualbox.startup.plist

~/Library/LaunchAgents

  • org.virtualbox.vboxwebsrv.plist

After that, disable any Logins Items at  > General > Login Items, then restart and test again. If the problem still persists, the only other option is to do the clean install and if it continues you know it is Hardware related. These steps take time, but cost you nothing, so how you proceed is up to you.
