Apple Pencil 1 isn't charges from iPad 10 with USB-C adaptor

Hello. I've bought iPad 10 and Apple Pencil 1 with old Lightning-Lightning connector. As far as I know that pencils works with 10-th gen iPads only with a new USB-C adaptor. I've bought one. It was so stupid when I've detected that pencil doesn't fits with this original connector because lightning port is to deep inside and pencil just can't get it. So I had to cut off a little of plastic from connector to let my pencil fit inside. Now the pairing works but the iPad doesn't charge the pencil. I have to use my old iPhone 7 like a charger for pencil, lol. Everything works good but the fact the iPad doesn't charge the pencil is really sad. Also I can't understand how could Apple create a connector with so deeply located lightning port that the pencil even can't hold there because it's lightning is too short for it. Maybe this charging problem is fixable, any suggestions? Thanks.
