iPod Classic / Video 80GB not recognized in Windows 10

Hi all,

Seeking help in trying to connect my old iPod Video 80gb (Gen5.5)

When I plug the iPod into the PC's USB port (no hub or extender), using the stock cable, I get a notification of "USB Device not recognized". The iPod does charge via the USB from the PC.

I have tried the following trouble shooting methods on 2 different PCs:

Rebooted the PC (multiple times between steps, etc)

Different cables

Restarted the iPod (holding down Menu and Select)

Put the iPod into Disk Mode (holding select and play/pause after restart)

Under Device Manager, the iPod is listed as "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)"

I have right clicked on this and tried to auto update the driver, and it says the best drivers are installed.

I have also gone into file explorer > My Computer\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers and right clicked on usbaapl64.inf and installed it.

The iPod does not show up on Disk Management.

the iPod does not show up on iTunes (presumably because windows doesn't recognize it)

the iPod itself looks to be on stock OS, version 1.3. and seems like it is in a Windows format.

Thank you for any help!
