MacBook Air having issues booting up

I have a 13” 2012 MacBook Air that works fine when on but when you turn it off it doesn’t boot back up again unless plugged in and pressing cntrl, alt and shift whilst holding the power button around 5-10 times and it eventually boots after many attempts of trying to boot it
