why didnt i recieve the full amount in apple pay?

My friend sent me money for rent and it came through as $2.50 less. It’s no big deal but I’m more curious why. I haven’t made any purchases since it was sent. I only noticed bc I went to transfer to my bank and it’s not $400 it says a balance of $397.50
