Errors relating to Minimum Age - Apple Music Profile, CarPlay SharePlay or Playlist Collaboration

Apple restricts certain functions on child accounts (where the child is under 13 - this differs between regions). Two common problems are not being able to use CarPlay SharePlay and not being able to join playlists to collaborate. These may be related to not being able to create an Apple Music profile. The errors that display usually give some indication that this is related to the user's age.

There are many reports that this is not automatically resolving when the child turns 13; something is not updating correctly. There are many solutions floating around but the following, after many other trials, worked for me.

I had tried these but not in this order. Profile is now available so playlist collaboration now works. So should CarPlay SharePlay.

Try this specific sequence:

• Sign out of your account on Media and Purchases (Settings > Tap Your Name > Media & Purchases > Sign Out
• Uninstall Apple Music app
• Restart device
• Install Apple Music app
• Sign back into account on Media and Purchases
• Go into Apple Music app
