"Pictures" Folder can't be closed - Folder does not respond

When starting my Macbook Pro M1 the "Pictures" Folder opens automatically and stays. open. It does not react to the Close function. The folder is greyed out and appears to be in the background.

I am running the latest Mac OS Sonoma 14.4.1

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 13.3

Starting with the basics:

  • Restart
  • Restart in Safe Mode
  • Switch to a different user account

Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support

Note that using Safe mode or a different user account are not solutions, they are diagnostic tools. Let us know what happens.

Thank you for your answer. That seemed to work.
I did a restart in Safe Mode, then also switched to a different user account. In this mode the "Pictures" Folder was gone.
I restarted the MacBook the usual way and now it seems to work normally.
No more open folder.

Sometimes just starting in Safe mode will resolve things. I'm glad to hear you got everything working again.
