Earphones/Headphones work for podcasts but not for meetings

I have iPhone 12 on most current iOS. My wired Apple earbuds from a prior iPhone work fine listening to podcasts. When listening to WebEx or Teams meetings, I can’t get the audio through the earbuds and it messes up the system so that I need to leave the meeting and sign in again to hear audio through the phone speakers. This also occurs with my 1 year old wireless earbuds. Is there a fix so that others don’t have to listen to my meetings with me???
