Low volume after dropping my airpods in water

I had let someone borrow my airpods pros, and afterward i was wanting to clean them since im a germaphobe. Basically i wet a paper towel with water and soap, took off the little bud part, scrubbed it, then wiped it with another paper towel. Once i put it in, i realized it wasn’t working. I put it in the case and tried again, but then realized my phone thought it was still in the case (i cleaned my case the same way). I then took it in and out, and put it in my ear again. It started working, but my right airpod was very loud and the left one was pretty quiet. any help or tips?
