Messages not showing up on iPhone only iPad

My iMessages will show up on my iPad but won’t sync with my iPhone, in which when I get the notification on my phone about a message but I can only view it on my iPad how do I fix this and get it back to normal where it’s same messages on the iPad and iPhone, and can respond on both?
