Keyboard numbers not working

Unable to sign in to my older Macbook Pro laptop due to the numbers/@ keys not responding. It means I cant enter my Apple ID or password.

I have not accessed the laptop in a few years, and have forgotten the password to the laptop. SO I am trying to reset the laptop password by signing in with my AppleID
