Constantly being locked out of my Apple ID & having to re-sign in for "security purposes"

Apple incessantly demands I re-sign into my account (on Mac & iPhone). It was about once a month last year, now almost daily!! Is this a result of my refusing to "upgrade" to the very inconvenient (for me) 2 factor security? If so, how can I stop Apple harassing me over this? If not, how do other people deal with being locked out of their account daily?
