Just got a message that my payment for extra @icloud.com storage needs to be updated. Is this A scam?

Quite possibly yes. Don’t click on any buttons within an email or follow any links from a message. You can always check your payment cards within Your Apple Accounts by going directly from your browser or your Apple apps.
