McAfee for iMac OS Monterey

I have an iMac desktop running OS Monterey v 12.7.2, used for simple surfing the news, Facebook, email, and such. I suppose I should have some anti-virus protection, but if I look up McAfee, I get a lot of stuff like that shown here and dont know where to begin. Any ideas for me? (I'm a very old non-nerd)

Do not install third party anti virus apps. They are not needed. They use system resources while providing no benefit. And they may cause problems.

Microsoft did not write macOS and macOS needs no anti-virus protection because Apple incorporates several security levels both at the hardware and within the operating system. There are years of posts in these communities by those that thought they had to install anti-virus applications and lived to regret the consequences. Just don't go there.
