Why do $550 headphones have bugs such as automatic deactivation?

My AirPods Max just turns off on its own after not using it for like 10s... it's not even consistent. Sometimes it stays on after taking it off, and sometimes it just turns off, requiring a reset of holding the two buttons down for 15s. I got mine replaced for 30 dollars with the apple care + yet the problem arose again under 6 months of use. Is there a permanent fix for this? I don't really want to deal with this for an extremely premium bluetooth headphones and is looking forward to sell it if this problem continues.
