I cannot edit groups in Contacts.

Sometimes dragging a single or two contacts will work after a restart, but then they will not add to the group. Similarly, I cannot delete contacts from groups. This had worked previously but has been a problem for me for months. I have tried Apple support a few time, sand posting on the forum with no results. Help! Running OS 14.4.1
